SAND SCULPTING PROCESS

This gallery illustrates the sequence and methods used to create a sculpted reef module using the “lost sand process.” A box form is filled with specially graded fine sand that is them compacted into a hard block. The wood forms are removed, and the block is carved into an organic shape. The shaped sand is laminated with a specially engineered concrete coating. The sand is then removed from the cured coating and the reef shell is then further processed into the final sculpted reef module.
